Las palabras negativas no se traducen a la lengua materna

Las personas multilingües , al leer, traducen inconscientemente a su lengua materna. Esto sucede de forma espontánea: los lectores ni siquiera se dan cuenta. Podría afirmarse que el cerebro funciona como un traductor simultáneo. ¡Pero no traduce todo! Un estudio ha revelado que el cerebro tiene un filtro incorporado. Este filtro decide qué es lo que se traduce. Y parece como si el filtro ignorase determinadas palabras. Las palabras negativas no se traducen al idioma materno. Unos científicos hicieron un experimento con hablantes de chino como lengua natal. Todos los individuos hablaban inglés como segunda lengua. Los sujetos de la prueba debían evaluar varias palabras inglesas. Estas palabras poseían diferente contenido emocional. Había términos positivos, negativos y neutros. Se investigó el cerebro de los sujetos mientras leían las palabras. Esto es, los científicos midieron la actividad eléctrica del cerebro. Así pudieron ver la manera de trabajar del cerebro. Cuando se traducían palabras se originaban ciertas señales. Tales señales indicaban que el cerebro estaba activo. Sin embargo, con las palabras negativas los sujetos no mostraron ninguna actividad. Solo se traducían los términos positivos o neutrales. Los investigadores no saben por qué ocurre esto. En teoría, el cerebro tiene que procesar todas las palabras de la misma forma. Podría ser que el filtro cerebral examine previamente cada palabra. Ese análisis tendría lugar mientras la palabra se lee en el segundo idioma. Si la palabra es negativa, entonces la memoria se bloquea. De esta manera no se puede pensar en la lengua materna. Las personas pueden reaccionar muy sensiblemente ante las palabras. Tal vez el cerebro solo quiere protegerlas de un shock emocional…
