Línguagem e matemática

Existe uma correspondência entre o pensamento e a linguagem. Eles exercem uma influência mútua. As estruturas linguísticas condicionam as estruturas do nosso pensamento. Muitas línguas , por exemplo, não apresentam palavras para designarem os números. Os falantes não entendem o conceito do número. Igualmente, a matemática e a linguagem estão, de algum modo, interrelacionadas. As estruturas gramaticais e as estruturas matemáticas são parecidas. Alguns pesquisadores pensam também que elas se difundem do mesmo modo. Acreditam que o centro linguístico é responsável igualmente pela matemática. Podiam ajudar o cérebro a realizar operações de matemática. No entanto, há novos estudos que apresentaram uma conclusão diferente. Demonstram que o nosso cérebro processa os dados matemáticos sem recurso à linguagem. Alguns pesquisadores investigaram três sujeitos do sexo masculino. O cérebro dos três sujeitos estava lesionado. Em consequência, também o a região linguística (da fala) tinha sido danificada. Os homens tinham grandes dificuldades em falar. Já não conseguiam produzir sequer frases simples. Nem conseguiam compreender palavras isoladas. A seguir ao teste linguístico, os homens tiveram de resolver alguns exercícios de cálculo matemático. Algumas das tarefas eram realmente complexas. Apesar disto, os sujeitos conseguiram resolvê-las. Os resultados deste estudo é bastante interessante. Demonstra que a matemática não é codificada com palavras. É possível que a linguagem e a matemática possuam a mesma base. Ambas são processadas na mesma região cerebral. Mas, para isso, não se pode traduzir fórmulas matemáticas com termos linguísticos. Pode ser que a linguagem e a matemática se desenvolvam em conjunto... Quando o cérebro está totalmente formado, existem de forma separada...
