美洲土著语言

美洲有许多不同的语言。在北美，最重要的语言是英语。在南美，占主导地位的语言是西班牙语和葡萄牙语。这几种语言都来自欧洲。在殖民期前，美洲使用的是其它语言。这些语言被称为美洲土著语言。美洲土著语言直至今日都没有被彻底研究过。这些语言的多样性相当大。据估算，北美约有60个语系。南美更多，约有150个语系。其中的大部分都是孤立语言。这些语言有很大的不同。它们只有少量的共同结构。因此很难对这些语言进行归类。美洲历史是造成语言差异性的原因。美洲在不同时期被殖民。第一批到达美洲的人类大约是在1万年前。每个族群都将他们的语言带到了新大陆。但美洲土著语言和亚洲语言最为相似。美洲古老语言的状况在美洲各地并不相同。在南美，许多印第安人的语言到今天仍然存在。比如，瓜拉尼语和盖丘亚语仍有上百万使用者。相反，北美土著语言几乎全都消失了。北美印第安人的文化曾在很长一段时间里受到压迫。因此他们的语言也随之消失了。近几十年来，人们对美洲土著语的兴趣开始攀升。目前有许多旨于保护和促进美洲土著语的计划项目。因此美洲土著语在未来仍有希望......
